P.M. POP-UP STORMS TODAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND… The forecast is in a “rinse and repeat” mode today and over the next several days with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly but not exclusively in the P.M. hours, each day. Just like the last couple of days, today will feature spotty showers and thunderstorms that bubble up in the late morning and afternoon hours, building in coverage into the evening hours. Loud thunder, cloud-to-ground lightning, and localized downpours of heavy rain are expected in the storms today. Widespread severe storms are not expected today or into the weekend. High temperatures will be around the 90 degree mark with morning lows around 70°.

CONSISTENT PATTERN THIS WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK… No real changes to report in the local forecast. We will have scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms around each day with high temperatures around the 90 degree mark. Not every community will have rain and storms this weekend but some inevitably will. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day today and as needed in the RedZone Weather app.

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. Some model data points to the potential for a brief, weak tropical storm developing in the 7-10 day range, perhaps in the western Caribbean Sea or Bay of Campeche region in the far southern Gulf. For now, this is nothing more than an idea. I’ll keep you posted about development probabilities in the days ahead IF we see this is a realistic possibility.

APP… If you haven’t already downloaded the RedZone Weather app, now is a great time to do that. redzoneweather.com/app is the link to the free download.
