BUILDING HEAT OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS; P.M. STORMS… Get ready for what will be the hottest week, so far, in 2025 with high temperatures set to be in the mid to upper 90s later this week. Most spots will be in the low to mid 90s this afternoon with spotty showers and thunderstorms being possible. We have a big ridge of high pressure dominating the weather pattern across much of the eastern half of the continental United States over the next few days. Our area will be on the southern periphery of the ridge, meaning storms will be moving FROM east to west. Not every community will have rain before the end of the day (many won’t) but where storms develop, localized downpours are likely.

SLIGHTLY LOWER RAIN CHANCES THROUGH THURSDAY… Rain chances won’t get down to zero over the next few days but we will have slightly lower rain chances (20-40% chance range) through Thursday due to the area of high pressure situated to our north. Widely spaced, spotty storms are likely in the afternoon and evening hours today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the 90s with heat index values at or above 100°.

TROPICS: DISTURBANCE SOUTHEAST OF BERMUDA IN ATLANTIC… An area of low pressure well away from land has developed in the Atlantic Ocean. This system will never directly affect the continental United States. From NHC: “Satellite data indicate that a weak low pressure system has formed about 450 miles east-southeast of Bermuda. The associated showers and thunderstorms remain disorganized, but some slow development is possible during the next day or so while the low moves northeastward over the central Atlantic. By Monday night, however, the system is expected to move over cool waters and into a region of strong upper-level winds, ending its opportunity for development.”

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Caribbean Sea and the Gulf are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The peak of the Atlantic hurricane season happens on September 11.
