SPOTTY STORMS TODAY; HIGHER RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK… Thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day, at times, on this Thursday. Storms will remain scattered in nature and not every community will have rain before the end of the day. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s again today with heat index values in excess of 100 degrees. Rain chances will be increasing slightly each day tomorrow and into the weekend.

LOW-END, LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) SEVERE WEATHER RISK… The Storm Prediction Center includes much of south Alabama and northwest Florida in their Level 1 (out of 5), low-end severe weather risk valid for today into this evening. Gusty winds and hail are the two hazards of concern in any storms that can briefly become strong or severe today. MOST of the storms today will remain well under severe limits.

TROPICS QUIET INTO THE WEEKEND… The Gulf, Caribbean, and North Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The climatological peak of the Atlantic hurricane season happens on September 11.
