INCREASING TEMPERATURES TODAY AND TOMORROW; LOWER RAIN CHANCES… Summer temperatures and summer humidity continue on this Thursday. High temperatures will reach the mid 90s in many spots by 3PM. Heat index values will be around the 100 degree mark this afternoon. Rain chances are LESS today compared to the last few days. We may have a few highly isolated showers and storms but most communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry. Rain chances are set to rise as we get into early next week.

INDEPENDENCE DAY FORECAST… Tomorrow will likely shape up to be one of the hottest days, so far, of 2025. High temperatures will be in the 95-98° range with heat index values perhaps in excess of 105° in some spots. Rain chances remain quite low (10% chance) with only a few spotty storms being possible. Fireworks displays across the region after 8PM will have temperatures in the low 80s.

HIGHER RAIN CHANCES RETURN EARLY NEXT WEEK… P.M. pop-up thunderstorms are expected to develop with greater coverage across the region as we get into early next week. It won’t be an all day washout on Monday or Tuesday, but we will have more showers and thunderstorms around each day. High temperatures are set to be in the low 90s with morning lows around the 70 degree mark.

TROPICAL UPDATE: DISTURBANCE MAY DEVELOP OFF FLORIDA OR GEORGIA COAST… The National Hurricane Center continues to indicate an area of low pressure may develop into a named tropical storm. The good news, however, is that the probability of.this system developing in the northeastern Gulf has lessened quite a bit. Model guidance is now in good agreement that IF we see a named storm development, that will very likely happen in the western Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida, Georgia, or the Carolinas. Significant local impacts in Alabama and northwest Florida are not expected, regardless of if formal development happens.
