NUMEROUS P.M. STORMS TODAY; HOTTER TEMPS LATER THIS WEEK… Just like the last few days, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will pop up across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Most of the showers and storms will develop between 11AM and 8PM. Cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, heavy rain, and gusty winds will be possible in the strongest of the storms. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s today.
MORE P.M. STORMS IN DAYS AHEAD… Pop-up thunderstorms will continue to be likely at times in the afternoon and evening hours over the next several days. High temperatures will be in the low-90s with morning lows in the 70s.
DISTURBANCE IN CENTRAL ATLANTIC EAST OF BERMUDA… The National Hurricane Center suggests there is a 30% chance of a tropical storm forming in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean east of Bermuda over the next few days. Regardless of if development happens, this system is not expected to ever directly affect the USA. From NHC: “An area of low pressure is expected to form in a couple of days a few hundred miles east-northeast of Bermuda. This system is then forecast to interact with an upper-level trough, and could acquire some subtropical or tropical characteristics during the middle to latter portions of this week while it drifts southeastward. By next weekend, the low is expected to turn northward bringing the system over cooler waters, likely limiting additional development.”
Tropical development is not expected in the Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean Sea over the next several days.
