POP-UP STORMS EXPECTED AGAIN TODAY… Typical summertime, pop-up thunderstorms are expected to develop again on this Tuesday. Just like the last few days and just like what is ahead in the coming days, most of the thunderstorms will develop in the heat of the day between 1PM and 8PM. There are some indications storms may get rolling a bit earlier today. While widespread severe storms are not expected today, these summertime storms can “pack a punch” with gusty winds, cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and heavy rain. I had 3+ inches of rainfall in less than 90 minutes at our RZW studio in Brewton. If storms train over the same areas for an extended period of time today, flash flooding will again become a concern.

CONSISTENT FORECAST: HEAT, HUMIDITY, P.M. STORMS… No real changes to report in the extended forecast. We have a chance of P.M. thunderstorms each day with high temperatures slated to be around the 90 degree mark. Morning lows will be in the low 70s. Humidity values will remain elevated through the next 7 days and the next several weeks. This consistent weather pattern is quite typical for this time of year.

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. We are watching a new system in the Eastern Pacific basin that is expected to become a hurricane before making landfall in southern Mexico later this week into the weekend. That system will remain well away from Alabama and northwest Florida.

MORE POP-UP STORMS TODAY… Thunderstorms are likely at times today. Not expecting widespread severe weather issues, thankfully.

Cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and localized downpours are expected. Be ready for scattered downpours.

Have a great Tuesday!
