NEW TROPICAL DEPRESSION… While the tropical Atlantic is becoming more active, there are no signs at the moment that point to trouble for the Gulf Coast. Good news, as we have yet another tropical depression on the board this morning. The National Hurricane Center has initiated advisories on Tropical Depression 11, located about 450 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. TD11 is expected to dissipate by Monday as it approaches the islands of the Antilles. Let’s look at other weather details…

ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE… There is a 60% chance that a tropical wave just south of the Cabo Verde Islands becomes a tropical storm over the next few days as it moves westward. It’s far too early to know where this system will end up, but we’ll certainly keep you posted. No threat to land over the next 5 days.

TWO OTHER LOWS… A weak area of low pressure located south of Bermuda has a 10% chance of developing into a tropical storm as it moves west and northwest in the days ahead. This system is weak with very little convection this morning. Most models also show the high (70-80%) chance of another, separate area of low pressure developing into a tropical storm well east of Bermuda in the days ahead. No threat to land most likely.

FIRST DAY OF FALL… Today marks the autumnal equinox and the first day of astronomical fall/autumn. We won’t have fall-like temperatures for several more days as today will be hot with high temps in the 90s.

STORMS AROUND TODAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up today across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Most of the storms will happen after the Noon hour. Severe weather is not expected, but there will be a good bit of lightning in some of the stronger storms. High temperatures will be around 91° in most spots.

Enjoy your weekend! Let me know if you have any weather-related questions.
