HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE IN THE 105-108° RANGE… It is hot out there on this Friday evening! Not just “normal hot,” but oppressively hot. Air temperatures remain in the mid-90s in most spots, but combined with dewpoint temperatures near 80° in most spots, that makes the heat index be in excess of 105 degrees! This is a preview of what’s to come this weekend. Some spots may have a 110° heat index on Saturday afternoon.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT… The National Weather Service in Mobile continues to include the entirety of our local area in a Heat Advisory, which is posted when heat index values can more quickly cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Take it easy if you’re working outside this evening!

FEW SHOWERS AND STORMS AROUND… As expected, just a few showers and thunderstorms have popped up this afternoon. The storms are located across parts of Conecuh, Monroe, Clarke, and Washington counties. Storms are slowly drifting northward. No severe weather is expected today or in the next several days, but storms are producing cloud-to-ground lightning.

I’ll have more updates over the next few hours in the RedZone Weather app.
