HEAT INDEX TO APPROACH 115° THIS AFTERNOON! HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT… The heat and humidity today (Saturday) and Sunday will be oppressive at times with heat index values in the 110-115° range in the afternoon and evening hours. The National Weather Service has placed ALL of our local area under a Heat Advisory through Monday evening. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop again this afternoon into this evening across our region. Most locales will have rain/storms before the end of the day, but there is a chance some locales may stay completely dry all day. Storms will be numerous by 4PM. Widespread severe weather is not expected today. Localized areas of heavy rain, small hail, lightning, and gusty winds will be the main concerns.

HEAT ADVISORY THROUGH 7PM MONDAY… A warm, sultry air mass remains in place across much of the Deep South. Dewpoint temperatures are excessively high, meaning air feels absolutely saturated and sticky. If you’ve going to be outside today or tomorrow for a long period of time, try to take it easy and obviously keep hydration at the front of your mind. NWS Mobile has a Heat Advisory in place for ALL of our local counties. We also note much of central Alabama is under a Heat Advisory this weekend.

TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… No tropical storm or hurricanes are expected to develop over the next 5 days, per the latest tropical weather outlook issued by the National Hurricane Center. We’ll keep watching the tropics and bring you the very latest.

RADAR UPDATES IN RZW APP… I’ll have radar updates posted in the RedZone Weather app later today as needed when showers and thunderstorms start popping up. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download of the RedZone Weather app. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and turn ON the alerts you would like to receive.

Have a great Saturday!
