MAINLY SUNNY & QUITE WARM THROUGH SATURDAY… Get ready for the warmest temperatures so far of the year 2020. Temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s this afternoon ahead of even warmer temperatures expected on Thursday. High temperatures on Thursday will likely peak at or near the 90 degree mark in the afternoon hours. Keep in mind, our climatological normal high temperature for this part of the month of March is around 76°. That means we’re running 10 to 15 degrees above where we should be. Our entire region will likely be dry today through Friday night. Our next chance of rain will happen on Saturday and Sunday. Let’s look at your forecast details.
MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY; NICE, WARM EVENING… Plenty of sunshine is expected on this Wednesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will peak in the 84-87° range inland (locales north of Interstate 10) but I expect beach communities to peak near 80 degrees.
HOT THURSDAY AFTERNOON AHEAD… There is a good chance Thursday will be the warmest day out of the next 7 days. High temperatures will peak near 90 degrees in most spots across the interior of south Alabama. There is a chance some locales may spike to 91-92° but most spots will peak in the 89-90° range. Mid-80s are expected closer to the coast.
SUNNY FRIDAY… No significant weather issues, other than patchy areas of dense fog being possible in the morning hours, are expected on Friday. Sunny skies are expected with high temperatures peaking in the upper-80s.
HIGHER RAIN CHANCES POSSIBLE SATURDAY… Rain is set to return on Saturday, primarily in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms becoming possible in the evening hours. For now, severe weather parameters remain low. High temperatures on Saturday will again rise into the mid- to upper-80s.
COLD FRONT APPROACHES SUNDAY… Cooler air arrives on Sunday after a cold front moves through our region. The front will approach from the northwest and progressively move southeast throughout the day. High temperatures Sunday will drop to around 80 degrees. Rain will be possible early in the day.
UNSETTLED MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… Rain and perhaps a few thunderstorms will be possible early next week. High temperatures will be in the upper-70s with morning lows dropping back into the mid-50s.
