HAIL LIKELY IN WAYNESBORO… Radar estimates show the likelihood of nickel-size hail happening along US45 near and just south of Waynesboro in southeast Mississippi. NWS Mobile has just allowed the severe thunderstorm warning that was in effect for parts of Wayne County to expire. We will not be getting a new severe thunderstorm warning for northern Washington or southern Choctaw counties in west Alabama for now. Instead, a significant weather advisory (the step below the warning) is in effect for areas near Millry.
SEVERE STORM APPROACHING MILLRY… A Severe Thunderstorm Warning continues until 7PM for parts of Wayne County, Mississippi, including the county seat of Waynesboro and a portion of the U.S. Highway 45 corridor. This storm is BROADLY rotating and giving us a radar signature that is suggestive of the potential for damaging straight line wind gusts in excess of 60 mph. The core risk with this storm will pass near or over Millry, Shady Grove, and areas near the Washington County Public Lake in the next 30 minutes or so. I would not be surprised if a new Severe Thunderstorm Warning is needed for northern Washington and southern Choctaw counties in west Alabama shortly. Watching radar trends carefully.
There is a severe thunderstorm capable of producing up to 60 mph wind gusts moving into areas near Waynesboro in SE Mississippi. If this storm holds its intensity, could be an issue for Millry, Chapel Hill, Shady Grove, and the Washington County (AL) Public Lake in 30-45 minutes. pic.twitter.com/UFvN1WE8Ly
