SCATTERED SHOWERS TODAY; FEW STRONGER STORMS NEAR N.W. FL BEACHES… Scattered areas of rain will be possible this morning into the afternoon hours on this Friday. There could be a few claps of thunder near the immediate coast today. There is a low-end risk of a few stronger storms near the northwest Florida beaches from 10AM to 3PM today before rain and storms completely clear out to the east. The tornado risk remains very low as the risk today near the beaches is exclusively driven by a low-end chance of a few storms containing gusty winds. Skies will clear out later today and the weekend will be dry, cool, and nice overall. Let’s look at all of your Friday forecast details.

LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) SEVERE WEATHER RISK NEAR COAST… The Storm Prediction Center has included a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) risk near the northwest Florida coast. There is basically no severe weather risk today for Alabama, but a few storms near and just south of Interstate 10 in northwest Florida could briefly become strong late this morning into the afternoon hours. Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Pensacola Beach, Opal Beach, Navarre, Fort Walton Beach, Mary Esther, Destin, Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Panama City Beach, Tyndall AFB, Port Saint Joe, and Apalachicola are included in this low-end risk zone. We note this risk is driven exclusively by the risk for damaging wind gusts and there does not seem to be an increased risk of tornadoes at this time.

RAIN MOVES OUT THIS AFTERNOON… Scattered showers and the occasional storms will move out to our east later this afternoon. We will dry out later this evening and I expect all of the rain to be gone by 7PM.

MOSTLY SUNNY SATURDAY; PASSING CLOUDS SUNDAY… Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid- to upper-50s. There could be a few passing clouds across our region on Sunday as high temperatures rise into the 60s. Both days are expected to be dry.

SUNNY, COOL WEEK AHEAD… The week ahead looks dry, sunny, and cool. High temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s with morning lows in the upper-30s. Overall, this next week looks to feature quiet weather locally.
