MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY & WEDNESDAY; RAIN RETURNS LATER THIS WEEK… Beautiful weather is expected on this Tuesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will peak in the upper-60s this afternoon. Cloud coverage will increase on Wednesday ahead of a few showers becoming possible on Thursday. Rain will also be possible Friday and into the weekend as our area enters into an extended wet pattern. The good news is, for now, we don’t see any signs of severe weather or winter weather issues anytime soon. A few more forecast details are below.
MILDER TEMPERATURES AHEAD… Last night and this morning were the last time we will see temperatures in the 30s for potentially quite some time. I see no model data that supports near freezing temperatures over the next 7-10 days. Highs today will rise into the mid- to upper-60s. There is a chance some spots tomorrow may hit the 70 degree mark. Cloud cover around our region on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will keep temperatures fairly stable with highs near 70 and lows in the 50s.
RAIN CHANCES RISE ON THURSDAY… Rain will increase in coverage across the area on Thursday, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours. Scattered showers will likely increase in number on Friday as a strengthening surface low pressure area (well to our north) and trailing cold front move eastward. Highs on Thursday will again be in the upper-60s and near 70.
SHOWERS LIKELY AT TIMES FRIDAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND… An unsettled pattern continues on Friday and into the weekend with rain being possible Friday and again late on Saturday into Sunday. We will need to keep the rain gear handy this weekend. No “all day washout” conditions are expected, but there could be scattered showers around at times.
APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.
