LARRY IS A HUGE HURRICANE IN THE ATLANTIC; WON’T BE A DIRECT ISSUE FOR USA… Hurricane Larry is a powerful, category 3 major hurricane centered about 950 miles southeast of Bermuda. What makes Larry so impressive and notable is the size of the storm. The diameter of the clouds associated with Larry extend approximately 600 miles across. For perspective, Ardmore (AL) on the AL/TN state line is about 330 miles away from Orange Beach (AL), located on the Gulf of Mexico. That means Larry “could fit almost two Alabamas” in the storm! Fortunately, Larry will not be a direct issue for the United States other than causing high waves and dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches this week into the weekend.

INVEST 91L REMAINS WEAK… The tropical disturbance we have been tracking in the southern Gulf remains weak this evening. There is a growing chance the system will NOT become a tropical storm before moving onshore in the Big Bend region of Florida on Wednesday. Regardless, increased rain chances are ahead due to this system for coastal areas locally by Wednesday.
