FLASH FLOODING ISSUES LIKELY TUESDAY, ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST… Flash flooding could become a significant problem on Tuesday, particularly in communities closer to the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. Heavy rain will likely begin overnight and extend into Tuesday morning and into the afternoon hours, leading to some communities picking up between 3 and 6 inches of rainfall in total over the next 24 hours. Unfortunately, these high rain amounts will be falling over highly saturated soil, meaning areas that had flash flooding issues earlier today (Fairhope, Destin, Navarre, etc.) will have a higher risk of again seeing flash flooding on Tuesday.

STORMS DRIFTING SLOWLY EAST THIS EVENING… Heavy rain is happening near and just west of the Interstate 65 corridor as of 8:35PM. Storms near Atmore, Poarch, Huxford, Excel, Repton, Range, and Evergreen continue to produce heavy rain. These storms will continue to gradually shift eastward over the next few hours. Flash Flood Warnings may be required overnight for communities downwind of these storms. Fortunately, no tornado or damaging wind issues are expected overnight, although loud thunder may be possible in some of the storms tonight and into Tuesday.

OUTAGE FOR SOCIAL MEDIA EARLIER… The worldwide outage of Facebook and Instagram earlier today highlights the importance of downloading our free RedZone Weather app. Despite the two global social media giants being down for 5-6 hours, our app and web services were never down and we had several updates posted throughout the day. If you haven’t already, be sure to download our free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.

My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM tomorrow morning. Have a nice Monday evening!
