MORE SUNSHINE TODAY; RAIN RETURNS THIS WEEKEND… Mostly sunny skies are ahead on this Wednesday with high temperatures likely to be in the mid- to upper-50s. Cool temperatures will persist into the evening and overnight hours. By Wednesday morning at 6AM, most locales will be around the freezing mark. More sunshine is ahead for Thursday and Friday ahead of an increasing chance of a few showers on Saturday. An upper-level low pressure system will move across the Deep South, ushering in moisture from the south allowing showers to form across the region on Saturday evening. Severe weather seems rather unlikely, however there is at least some chance that communities farther to our north (across the northern parts of Alabama) could have snow or mixed precipitation this weekend. That is NOT a certainty, however, and we still have a few days to go before model data will be reliable enough to know if snowfall in the northern half of the state is a real possibility. A few more Wednesday morning forecast notes are below.
SUNNY SKIES ON THURSDAY & FRIDAY… Sunny skies are ahead for tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. High temperatures will be in the 60s each day with morning lows in the upper-30s.
RAIN POSSIBLE SATURDAY IN AFTERNOON & EVENING HOURS… Showers will become possible on Saturday, particularly later in the day, as an upper-level low pressure area moves across the region. Highs on Saturday will be in the 60s. I expect a few thunderstorms to be possible in the Gulf waters just south of our local area, but storm coverage on Saturday will likely be limited over land areas due to the lack of instability across the region.
CLEARING SKIES ON SUNDAY… Clouds will gradually move out on Sunday with high temperatures likely to be near 50. Clouds may persist throughout the morning hours, but we expect a gradual clearing sky late in the day.
NICE START TO NEXT WEEK… Mostly sunny skies are expected for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday. Highs will be in the 50s on Monday and on Tuesday.
