POARCH STORM SURVEY FINDS 90-100MPH WIND GUSTS… The National Weather Service storm assessment team has concluded its storm survey on the damage that happened due to storms yesterday in Poarch in western Escambia County, AL.
At least 10 people were injured when 90-100 mph straight line wind gusts affected multiple mobile homes.
The team observed several mobile homes that were rolled and destroyed. The surrounding area sustained severe wind gusts to the southeast where several trees were snapped and uprooted. A farm and nearby residences sustained roof damage.
The storm survey team found no evidence of convergence with all damage laid out in a southwest to northeast swath suggesting straight line wind damage. This is yet another example highlighting that straight line wind damage can often be just as bad as tornado damage.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the folks that sustained damage due to the straight line wind damage in Poarch yesterday.
