OCCASIONAL RAIN AND STORMS TODAY; HOT WEEKEND AHEAD… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible throughout the day on this Friday. Some spots saw quite a bit of rain overnight and we have more in the way of rain and scattered storms ahead this afternoon into this evening. Severe weather is not expected today, but some of the storms may be “loud and proud” at times. Gusty winds may be possible in the strongest of the storms today. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s with heat index values closer to 100° this afternoon.

FEW STORMS AROUND ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY… No real changes to report on the forecast for the weekend into early next week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on both Saturday and on Sunday. Most communities will remain dry and hot this weekend. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s with morning lows in the mid-70s.

INCREASED RAIN CHANCES ON MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… Showers and storms will be more likely early next week as moisture values increase across the local area. Rain chances will be around 60% on Monday. Widespread severe weather is not expected but some storms may be briefly strong at times with gusty winds being the main concern.

TROPICS REMAIN QUIET FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE… I am pleased to report that no new tropical storms are expected to develop over the next 5-7 days across the north Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf of Mexico. The longer range models continue to show quiet conditions persisting through the end of July, thankfully.
