MAJOR RAIN EVENT AHEAD; A FOOT OF RAIN POSSIBLE NEAR BEACHES… 10 to 12 inches of total rainfall over the next 5 days is expected due to a developing tropical system in the northern Gulf. Regardless of if this system becomes a named tropical storm, potentially significant rainfall impacts are likely later this week and into the weekend. To repeat: Even if this is not a named storm, a foot of rainfall is currently forecast (in the Quantitative Precipitation Forecast) for areas near the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. Note that there will be breaks in the rain and sunshine at times in the days ahead, but overall, a wet, messy pattern is upcoming with the potential for significant flash flooding. I am in the process of working up a detailed forecast package that will debut in a few hours.
APP ALERTS… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.
Next detailed post in a few hours. Next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM tomorrow morning. Have a nice Monday evening!
Regardless of if the developing system in the Gulf becomes a named tropical storm, major rainfall is ahead. Flash flooding could become quite problematic based on the latest rainfall forecasts. https://t.co/fPB2jPBtSu pic.twitter.com/nxgvbn5AnR
