HOT DAYS AHEAD… Slightly increased rain chances are coming up this weekend into early next week. High temperatures will be in the 90s over the next several days with heat index values in excess of 100°.
MORE HEAT & HUMIDITY THIS WEEKEND; SLIGHTLY INCREASED RAIN CHANCES COMING… Today will be similar to the last few days with a fairly limited chance of showers and thunderstorms. The vast majority of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry today. A few thunderstorms may form in the heat of the day, specifically between 2PM and 7PM. High temperatures will be in the mid-90s today. The next several days will be increasingly hot and humid. Heat index values will reach into the 105-110° range on Saturday and Sunday. More P.M. storms, especially compared to the last few days, are expected into the weekend.
TROPICAL WAVE IN CENTRAL ATLANTIC MOVING WEST… A tropical wave located a few hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to move west across the eastern Atlantic Ocean. The National Hurricane Center indicates this tropical wave has a 20-30% chance of becoming a tropical storm in 4-5 days as it approaches the northern Leeward Islands. It remains well too early to know if this system will ever directly affect the continental United States. Certainly nothing to worry about for now, just something to keep an eye on over the next week. The Gulf of Mexico remains quiet, thankfully.
