SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND… Rain chances will rise as we get into the upcoming weekend. Won’t be an all day washout on any of the next 7 days but there will be scattered storms around.
PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY; FEW P.M. STORMS… Cumulus clouds will dot the sky this afternoon across the region as high temperatures soar into the mid-90s. Heat index values will be in the upper-90s this afternoon. A few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible today, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. Widespread severe weather is not expected today but some of the thunderstorms will be capable of producing loud thunder, cloud-to-ground lightning, and heavy rain. Rain chances are slated to increase somewhat as we get into the weekend.
TROPICS: TROPICAL WAVE IN EASTERN CARIBBEAN… Showers and thunderstorms continue to intermittently happen across the eastern Caribbean Sea and the Leeward Islands as a tropical wave continues to move westward. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) notes there is a very low chance (10%) of this system developing into a named tropical storm over the next few days.
TROPICS: AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER IN S.W. ATLANTIC… An area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms is happening several hundred miles southwest of Bermuda in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. This system will move toward the north Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina coast over the next few days. For now, development probabilities remain low, meaning there is a 10% chance of this system forming into a named tropical storm over the next few days.
TROPICS: TROPICAL WAVE IN EASTERN ATLANTIC… From NHC: “A tropical wave is located south of the Cabo Verde Islands. Some development of this system is possible later this week and into the weekend while it moves westward to west-northwestward over the tropical Atlantic.”
