FEW STORMS IN SOUTHERN OKALOOSA… Isolated showers and thunderstorms are happening in parts of southern Okaloosa County in northwest Florida as of 12:53PM.

The remainder of the region is dry, for now. More storms will likely develop across the region over the next few hours although not every community will have rain before the end of the day.

Temperatures will peak in the mid-90s over the next several hours.

HEAT ADVISORY TODAY; A FEW POP-UP STORMS… Heat index values will be in the 108-113° range in many spots again this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect for several local counties because of this. Air temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-90s today but when you factor in the humidity, it makes the air feel quite a bit hotter. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms are likely to pop up in the afternoon and evening hours. Most of the more organized storms will remain to our north today.

SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage as we get into the weekend. Most of the pop-up storms this weekend will occur in the afternoon and evening hours. For now, there is no organized severe weather risk noted as we get into the weekend. High temperatures will continue to be in the mid- to upper-90s.

ATLANTIC BASIN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season will peak on September 11. Hurricane season runs through November 30 each year.
