SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR EAST AL & FL PANHANDLE… A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8PM for Lee, Macon, Bullock, Russell, Barbour, Pike, Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva, Houston, Walton, Holmes, Washington (FL), and Jackson (FL) counties. Much of southwestern Georgia is also involved in this Severe Thunderstorm Watch. A complex of strong to severe thunderstorms has developed near Montgomery, Greenville, and Luverne. This cluster of storms will move into Troy, Tuskegee, and Union Springs shortly. Gusty winds up to 60 mph are the hazard of concern. More severe storms will likely develop across the watch area in the hours ahead.
POP-UP STORMS LOCALLY… Isolated downpours of heavy rain are happening near Yellow Pine and Fruitdale in Washington County, near Gainestown and Gosport in Clarke County, near Goodway and Megargal in Monroe County, and near Niceville and Holt in Okaloosa County. More storms will pop up across the local area over the next several hours. Some of the storms may become strong or marginally severe with damaging wind gusts being possible.
