MORE P.M. STORMS INTO THE WEEKEND… Scattered thunderstorms are likely to increase in coverage this weekend. High temperatures will continue to be in the mid- to upper-90s each day.
EXTREME HEAT & HUMIDITY TO CONTINUE… Thunderstorms will continue to be possible in the days ahead along with ongoing extreme heat. High temperatures will be in the upper-90s yet again later this week.
SCATTERED STORMS THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING; EXTREME HEAT TO CONTINUE… Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon into this evening, particularly across inland areas of south Alabama. Some of the storms may be strong or severe. Damaging straight line winds are the main hazard concern today. The overall risk of tornadoes remains quite low. High temperatures will again be in the mid- to upper-90s with heat index values again in the 110-115° range. Take it easy if you have to be outside for extended periods of time today.
ATLANTIC BASIN CONTINUES TO BE QUIET; DORA IN PACIFIC… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean continue to be quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form in the next 5-7 days. Hurricane Dora is passing well south of Hawaii in the central Pacific Ocean today. Dora is on track to be a storm that accomplishes a rare feat indeed, starting in the eastern Pacific southwest of Mexico and ultimately ending up in the western Pacific basin. Dora is forecast to track into the western Pacific in 4-5 days. The last time a Pacific storm crossed through all three basins in the Pacific Ocean (eastern, central, and western) was Hurricane Hector in 2018.
