FEW SHOWERS THIS MORNING; DRIER INTO THIS EVENING, FRIDAY, & THE WEEKEND… Rain is on the way out on this Thursday but not before a few lingering showers happen through the morning hours. High temperatures will rise into the upper-60s this afternoon. Drier conditions are likely as we go into Friday and into the weekend. Next week, however, is likely to feature more rain and thunderstorms, particularly on Monday and Tuesday.
COOL, DRY WEEKEND AHEAD… High temperatures will be around the 70 degree mark on Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows by Sunday morning will be in the low-40s in many spots. Partly cloudy skies are expected throughout the weekend with no rain.
MORE RAIN EXPECTED NEXT WEEK… Rain will come back into the forecast on Monday and Tuesday as another round of wet weather sets up. For now, it is a bit too early to know if severe storms will be possible. There is a real chance next week may be quite similar to this week with multiple rounds of beneficial rain.
TROPICAL UPDATE… An area of disturbed weather in association with an area of low pressure brought quite a bit of rain to parts of south Florida yesterday. That area of low pressure has a low-end (10%) chance of becoming a named tropical storm while moving over the northern Bahamas today and into the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. That system will never directly affect Alabama or northwest Florida. We’re also keeping an eye on an area of low pressure in the southeastern Caribbean Sea that has a 50-60% chance of becoming a named tropical storm while pushing toward Jamaica, eastern Cuba, and Haiti over the next few days. That system, also, will never directly affect Alabama or northwest Florida.
