WET PATTERN THROUGH SATURDAY… Rain and thunderstorms will continue to be likely through Saturday. There is a chance for a few strong storms around on Thursday. Much cooler, drier air arrives on Sunday.
SCATTERED STORMS TODAY; LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK TOMORROW… Showers and thunderstorms will be possible at times on this Wednesday, particularly across west Alabama and in areas west of the Alabama River. High temperatures will be in the upper-60s and near 70 due to the continued southeasterly flow off the Gulf of Mexico. There is a chance some locales may remain dry today but that will likely change tomorrow when scattered storms become more numerous across the region.
LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK THURSDAY… The Storm Prediction Center has included much of our local area in their low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for tomorrow. This includes Millry, Grove Hill, Monroeville, Evergreen, Andalusia, and points south to the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. Any thunderstorms that can briefly become strong or severe tomorrow will be capable of producing a few tornadoes and damaging wind gusts. Thunderstorms are more likely to happen tomorrow in the afternoon and evening hours.
MORE RAIN & STORMS FRIDAY… Scattered thunderstorms will continue to be the norm across the local area on Friday. For now, severe storms seem rather unlikely on Friday. The main hazard concern on Friday will be the growing potential for flash flooding, particularly if thunderstorms train over the same areas. High temperatures on Friday will again be in the 70s.
SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY MORNING… Thunderstorms may become strong or marginally severe on Saturday in the morning hours before the passage of a cold front in the afternoon or early evening hours. Temperatures will be in the 70s on Saturday ahead of much cooler temperatures on Sunday.
DRIER, COOLER CONDITIONS SUNDAY INTO NEXT WEEK… Clearing skies are in the forecast on Sunday with high temperatures in the upper-50s and low-60s. Cooler, drier air will linger on Monday into Tuesday with highs likely to be in the 50s and morning lows in the 30s.
