HAZARDOUS ROADS DUE TO FLASH FREEZE; VERY COLD TODAY… Heads up for the morning commute! There are roads and bridges, especially across the interior regions of southwest Alabama, that have ice issues. Black ice will certainly be a concern over the next several hours and into the afternoon, this evening, and overnight. Simply put – don’t drive in this mess unless you absolutely have to as the freezing rain event has clearly over-performed in many spots across the region farther inland.

VERY COLD TODAY; HARD FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT… Very cold, Arctic air has moved into south Alabama and northwest Florida behind an advancing cold front overnight, paving the way for a very cold Tuesday. Air temperatures may not get above freezing in many spots across the interior of southwest Alabama. Most spots closer to the coast will be in the low-40s. Skies will gradually become clear later today as rain and clouds continue moving out to the east.

HARD FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT… Temperatures will be below the freezing mark from roughly 6PM this evening to 10AM Wednesday with overnight lows Wednesday morning likely to be in the mid-10s. Wind chill values will likely be in the single digits Wednesday morning. A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the entire local area along with a HARD FREEZE Warning region wide valid for tonight into Wednesday morning. EXTREMELY cold conditions for our local area!

TEMPS BRIEFLY REBOUND LATER THIS WEEK… High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the 40s with upper-50s likely on Thursday. While overnight lows will be below freezing again Wednesday night into Thursday morning, we get a brief break from the very cold temperatures Thursday and Friday ahead of more subfreezing temperatures during the upcoming weekend.
