RAIN LIKELY AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms will become likely this weekend, particularly on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low-70s through the weekend.
Rain possible Monday ahead of drier, colder conditions setting up for Fat Tuesday and the Mardi Gras parades!
INCREASING CLOUDINESS TODAY; RAIN INCREASINGLY LIKELY INTO THE WEEKEND… Cloud coverage will increase across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Thursday. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-60s this afternoon. A few sprinkles and rain showers may happen in the hours after sunset today, particularly in areas farther inland north of the U.S. Highway 84 corridor. Most locales across the region will remain dry through tonight and tomorrow. Rain chances are slated to rise on Friday evening into Saturday. Overnight lows will be in the 40s and 50s tonight due to more cloud cover around. These clouds will act as somewhat of a blanket, thus keeping temperatures a bit warmer than the last several nights.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE TONIGHT AND ON FRIDAY… Most of us across the region will remain dry tonight and tomorrow morning. A frontal boundary is approaching our region from the northwest over the next 24-48 hours, thus being the spark that could cause a few showers to form tonight and on Friday. High temperatures on Friday will be in the upper-60s and perhaps in the low-70s closer to the coast.
RAIN CHANCES RISE ON SATURDAY; MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF RAIN THROUGH SUNDAY… We are entering into a rather unsettled weather pattern on Saturday when multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms will be possible. I am not expecting Saturday or Sunday to have rain all day but multiple waves of rain and thunderstorms will be possible at times. Have an indoor backup plan ready this weekend if you have outdoor events planned. For now, severe weather parameters remain low. Sunday, in particular, looks quite wet with multiple rounds of heavy rain being possible. Higher rain amounts, up to 2 inches of rainfall in total through the wekeend, will be likely farther inland with lower rain amounts (generally around a half an inch of rainfall in total) closer to the coast.
LINGERING SHOWERS POSSIBLE MONDAY… Rain will gradually clear out from west to east throughout the day on Monday. High temperatures on Monday will be in the mid-60s. A cold front will push across the entire region on Monday, thus allowing drier, colder air to filter in Monday evening into Tuesday.
DRIER, COOLER CONDITIONS FOR FAT TUESDAY AND ASH WEDNESDAY… The Mardi Gras celebrations on Fat Tuesday will likely be dry. A cold wind out of the northwest will keep high temperatures in the 50s in many spots on Tuesday. Skies will become mostly sunny throughout the day on Tuesday. Mostly sunny skies are also expected on Wednesday with highs in the low-60s.
