QUITE WINDY TODAY; STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING… Breezy conditions this morning will give way to downright windy conditions this afternoon into this evening as pressure gradient wind gusts increase across the region. Wind gusts as high as 45 mph may be possible throughout the day on this Monday. Clouds will hang tough pretty much all day today with a few showers becoming possible in parts of Mobile and Baldwin counties later this morning into the afternoon hours. I expect most communities in our local area to remain dry today. Storms become possible overnight into Tuesday morning. Some of the storms may be strong or severe. Please have a way to hear warnings overnight into Tuesday.

WIND ADVISORY TODAY INTO TONIGHT… Gusty winds are expected throughout the day into tonight. These will be pressure gradient winds not associated with the thunderstorms forecast to move through tonight into early Tuesday morning. Sustained winds of 20-30 mph will be possible across the region with wind gusts as high as 45 mph today. The National Weather Service continues to include ALL of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida in a Wind Advisory through 7AM tomorrow morning. Wind gusts will likely peak in intensity this afternoon into this evening before diminishing a bit before storms arrive overnight into Tuesday morning.

SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING… Have a way to hear warnings tonight before you go to sleep as urgent weather warnings may be required in the pre-dawn hours. 1AM to 10AM Tuesday is the nine hour window when strong to severe thunderstorms are MOST likely to happen across south Alabama and northwest Florida. A line of storms will enter west Alabama from Mississippi between 1AM and 3AM. This line of storms will gradually cross the region from west to east. The line of storms will likely be gradually weakening while moving across the region. Storms will likely clear out to our east by 10AM.

MAIN CONCERNS: DAMAGING WIND GUSTS & TORNADOES… Much of west Alabama continues to be involved in the Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk where tornadoes and damaging wind gusts will be MOST likely to happen locally on Tuesday morning. The overall risk is a bit lower farther east, but the risk is not zero. It will be important that we all have multiple ways to hear warnings tonight into Tuesday morning. Have a way to hear warnings tonight BEFORE you go to sleep as warnings may be required before you wake up Tuesday morning. I will have plenty of updates posted throughout the evening and into tonight in the RedZone Weather app and as always, we will “go live” and stay live if tornado warnings are needed locally.

DRIER, NICER WEATHER TUESDAY EVENING AND INTO WEDNESDAY… Rain and thunderstorms will quickly shift to the east of our local area Tuesday, giving way to drier conditions Tuesday evening and on Wednesday. The rest of the week (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) look to be dry and mostly sunny each day. High temperatures will generally be in the 70s with morning lows in the 40s.

TORNADO WARNING POLICY… Any time there is an active tornado warning in effect for southwest Alabama or northwest Florida, we provide uninterrupted, live video coverage on Facebook Live and in the RedZone Weather app. Our detailed coverage commitment is outlined at redzoneweather.com/coverage. We are proud to cover all parts of Escambia (AL), Covington, Monroe, Conecuh, Baldwin, Mobile, Clarke, Washington, Butler, Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties.
