SCATTERED STORMS TODAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND; LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK… Rain and thunderstorms will become increasingly likely as we get into the afternoon and evening hours on this Friday. There is a growing chance that a cluster of rain and thunderstorms currently in progress to our north will ultimately move from north to south across the region later today. Widespread severe storms are NOT expected, but there may be just enough overlap of “severe weather ingredients” to produce one or two stronger storms. Gusty winds and hail would be the hazards of concern in any storms that can briefly become strong or marginally severe later today. The overall tornado risk remains low today. Isolated storms will be possible again on Saturday ahead of another more organized round of rain and storms becoming likely on Sunday. Cooler, drier air will move in early next week.
LOW-END, LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY… The Storm Prediction Center maintains a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk across much of the local area on this Friday morning. This low-end severe weather risk is driven by a low-end risk of damaging wind gusts and large hail. The overall tornado risk remains LOW, but perhaps not completely zero.
ISOLATED STORMS SATURDAY; MORE RAIN & STORMS SUNDAY… Thunderstorms will be possible again on Saturday, but I expect storms to be more isolated in nature. Showers and thunderstorms on Saturday will be more likely to happen in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will be in the low-80s. Rain and thunderstorms are likely at times throughout the day on Sunday.
COOLER, DRIER CONDITIONS MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… After the cold front passage on Sunday evening, cooler, drier air will move into south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures on Monday and on Tuesday will be in the upper-60s. Overnight lows Monday night into Tuesday will be in the upper-30 farther inland and in the low-40s closer to the coast. Dry conditions are likely on Monday into Tuesday with plenty of sunshine each day.

SCATTERED STORMS POSSIBLE TODAY… Thunderstorms will be possible, particularly this afternoon into this evening, across parts of SW Alabama and NW Florida. Some of the storms may briefly ramp up and produce gusty winds or hail. Widespread severe weather is not expected.
