SUNNY & DRY WEEKEND FOR MOST; ISOLATED STORMS POSSIBLE… Most communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry today and into the Memorial Day holiday weekend. A few highly isolated, brief showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two cannot completely be ruled out today and over the weekend. High temperatures will consistently be in the low-90s today and in the days ahead. I will have radar updates posted today and throughout the weekend, if necessary, in the RedZone Weather app. Severe storms are NOT expected this weekend locally.

TROPICAL UPDATE… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea remain quiet. The National Hurricane Center has flagged a trough of low pressure as the first system that has a low-end chance of becoming a named storm over the next several days. Regardless of if formal development happens, impacts in south Alabama and northwest Florida are not expected. From NHC: “A trough of low pressure is producing a large area of disorganized cloudiness and showers over the southwestern Atlantic. An area of low pressure is expected to form within this system roughly halfway between Bermuda and Hispaniola on Friday. Although environmental conditions are not conducive, some slight subtropical or tropical development is possible over the next couple of days while the system moves northeastward.”
