ISOLATED STORMS AT TIMES TODAY; HEAT & HUMIDITY SET TO PERSIST… Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida at times today, tomorrow, and into the weekend. Not every community across the region will have rain before the end of the day, but some communities will have rain and thunder at times today. High temperatures will be in the low-90s across the region. Showers and thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon and evening hours, will be possible tomorrow and into the weekend as well.

TROPICS: DISTURBANCE EAST OF GEORGIA IN S.W. ATLANTIC… An area of disturbed weather in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean has a 10-20% chance of becoming a named tropical storm before moving inland later this week or this weekend. From NHC: “A broad trough of low pressure located a few hundred miles off the southeastern U.S. coast continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear only marginally favorable for some additional development of this system over the next couple of days before it moves inland over the southeastern U.S. by this weekend.”

TROPICS: GULF OF MEXICO, CARIBBEAN SEA REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and main development region of the Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season happens on September 11. Hurricane season officially ends on November 30.
