WARM TODAY W/ A FEW STORMS; COOLER TOMORROW… The grip of summer continues today ahead of a cooldown coming later this evening. High temperatures will feel more like August than October, peaking around 87 in most spots. There could be a few showers and thunderstorms around, particularly this afternoon and this evening. A cold front will sweep by today and cause temperatures to be more seasonal on Wednesday. We’re also monitoring an area of low pressure hugging the coastline of Honduras this morning in the western Caribbean Sea. Let’s look at details…
TROPICAL LOW NEAR HONDURAS… A broad low pressure system located over the northeastern portion of Honduras is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms over eastern Honduras, northern Nicaragua, and portions of the western Caribbean Sea. This system is expected to move near or just offshore of the northern coast of Honduras, and if the center moves offshore, a tropical depression could form before moving inland over Belize later today. There is a 40% chance of this happening. This system will pose no issues for the U.S.
COOLER AIR COMING… A cold front will move by this evening with another front poised to move through this weekend. High temperatures could easily drop to near 70 by Monday of the upcoming week with morning lows in the 40s and 50s. At the moment, severe weather issues seem unlikely. We will keep watching and bring you the latest.
