FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS MORNING; RAIN/STORMS BY FRIDAY… Most of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry today but there are a few areas of showers on radar this morning. Showers will progressively move out from west to east today. Wednesday is slated to be sunny before rain chances rise again by the end of the week. Black Friday could be quite wet. Let’s talk details…

SLIGHTLY COOLER TODAY… The few showers around this morning are mainly because of a weak cold front moving through our region. Temperatures this afternoon will peak in the mid-60s in most locales. By Wednesday morning, overnight lows will fall to around 40°. Wednesday will again feature high temperatures in the mid-60s. After the showers this morning, our next rain chance will happen Thanksgiving Day.

THANKSGIVING FORECAST… Isolated showers will become possible on Thanksgiving Day, particularly in communities near the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. There will be some sunshine in the mix on Thursday, but overall temperatures will be chilly throughout the day. If you’re headed out to a Thanksgiving Day event, I would definitely have a light jacket and perhaps even a rain jacket/umbrella handy just in case you happen to be near one of the isolated showers.

SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS ON BLACK FRIDAY… Rain chances for Black Friday have yet again been increased as an area of low pressure will move in from the west. There is model disagreement on just how far a warm front will be able to move inland, but at this point, it’s safe to conclude there will be some thunderstorms involved. There will be at least some chance of a few isolated severe thunderstorms, especially near the coast, on Friday. I expect the Storm Prediction Center to introduce a Level 1 (out of 5) marginal risk for coastal areas valid for Friday.

RAIN POSSIBLE SATURDAY & SUNDAY… Isolated showers will be possible this weekend as well across the local area. We note that the Iron Bowl at this point has a 30-40% chance of rain with temperatures likely to be in the upper-50s or near 60°. If you’re headed to the big game this weekend, be sure to take the rain jackets and something to keep warm!
