FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE INLAND TODAY; MOST TO STAY DRY & WARM… Showers will likely dot the radar display this afternoon across interior areas of south Alabama with warm temperatures expected across the region. High temperatures on this Tuesday will peak in the low-80s across inland areas and in the upper-70s closer to the beaches. There is a significant chance most spots will remain dry today, but we’ll call it a low (20-30%) rain chance, primarily for inland communities. There will be enough instability to support a few thunderstorms today at times. As always, if you’re close enough to a storm to hear thunder, you’re close enough to be struck by lightning. “When thunder roars, please go indoors.” More warm days are ahead with dry conditions likely Wednesday into Thursday. Our pattern will shift to support a wetter pattern as we go into the weekend and early next week. Let’s look at all of your forecast details.
MOSTLY SUNNY WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY; WARM AGAIN… Other than a few passing clouds and perhaps some dense fog in the early morning hours, Wednesday is slated to be a quiet weather day. Mostly sunny skies are expected. High temperatures will again be in the low- to mid-80s north of Interstate 10 and in the upper-70s closer to the immediate coastline. Thursday will be a near carbon copy of this.
NEXT CONSIDERABLE RAIN CHANCE: FRIDAY & SATURDAY… A cold front will approach our area on Friday. There could be a few showers and thunderstorms around our region by Friday afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s on Friday, but by Saturday afternoon much cooler air will be flowing into our region from the north. Highs will drop into the mid-70s. Rain chances will remain elevated (40-60%) on Saturday with a chance of a few thunderstorms in the mix as well.
INCREASINGLY WET PATTERN POSSIBLE NEXT WEEK… Despite some areas receiving the occasional isolated shower over the last week AND despite the widespread perception of numerous wet, cooler days over the last few weeks
SEVERE WEATHER RISK REMAINS NEAR ZERO FOR NOW… Despite multiple chances of rain in the forecast over the next 7-10 days, the overall risk of severe weather remains very low. I am seeing nothing in the way of a consistent signal that would suggest an imminent severe weather risk anywhere close to Alabama or northwest Florida. Good news!
