Widespread showers and thunderstorms continue across much of Alabama, NW Florida, and the Deep South… I expect “splash and dash” storms to continue to bubble up over the next few hours. Little to no severe weather is expected.
Storms are getting an early start on this Wednesday across our area. Have a look at the radar image above… Many, MANY small showers and thunderstorms are popping up across south Alabama and northwest Florida.
Tropical system this weekend will increase rain chances across the area… Nuisance flash flooding will certainly become an issue! pic.twitter.com/eADA2jvubo

The National Hurricane Center now says there is a 60% chance of a tropical storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. That’s up from 50% overnight. Tropical storm classification or not, heavy rain and flash flooding will be significant concerns this weekend across our area.
Depending on the specific track of the system, tornadoes and wind hazards may also become possible.
Please see this morning’s discussion (below) for in-depth coverage and analysis of what we can expect across south Alabama and northwest Florida this weekend. My next highly detailed update will be posted this evening. See you then!
