COOL SATURDAY; BIG RAIN AHEAD FOR MONDAY… We’re starting the day near 40° in most spots across south Alabama and northwest Florida with temperatures expected to only rise into the mid- to upper-50s this afternoon. Plenty of sunshine is expected throughout the day. Clouds increase on Sunday ahead of a big rain event for Monday. We could have a few strong storms around on Monday as well. Let’s talk details…

COOL TEMPERATURES THRU SUNDAY… Despite the ample sunshine today, high temperatures will struggle to hit 60° in most spots. Temperatures by Sunday morning will be around 39-41° in most spots, followed by a warmup to around 62° in the afternoon hours. Clouds will be increasing tonight into tomorrow ahead of the big time rain event setting up for Monday.

FEW STRONG STORMS MONDAY… While heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding will likely be the main weather impact on Monday, there could be a few strong to potentially severe thunderstorms around as well. The placement of these storms will be conditional on exactly how far north a warm front moves from the Gulf of Mexico. This means that coastal portions our northwest Florida counties will have the highest potential of severe weather.

HEAVY RAIN LIKELY MONDAY… Rain totals Monday into Monday night across the area will be high, with most spots picking up 2 to 3 inches of rain. There could be isolated higher rain totals. Rain will be possible throughout the day on Monday and into Monday night as a cold front moves by.

NO SNOW IN THE FORECAST… There is no chance of snow/mix in our local weather forecast in the next 7-9 days. The rain and showers that will be in place locally on Tuesday will be moving eastward and out of our area several hours before cold air arrives. This is often why our area doesn’t have snow very much… The precipitation often is gone before temperatures below freezing arrive. I saw a (bad, misleading) local headline this last week leading off with “SNOW!” No snow is in the forecast!

We’ll have weather updates throughout the day as needed in the RedZone Weather app. Enjoy your weekend!
