NICE TODAY; RAIN TO RETURN LATER THIS WEEK… Cobalt blue skies, plenty of sunshine, and mild temperatures are the headlines on this Sunday. High temperatures are slated to peak around the 70 degree mark today and on Monday. There could be a few showers around by Thanksgiving as an area of low pressure develops to our west and moves toward the local area. Rain could also happen into the weekend. Here are your Sunday evening weather headlines…

SUNNY THROUGH MONDAY… Sunny skies during the day and clear skies overnight tonight and on Monday night are expected. Nothing in the way of weather issues are expected other than a few areas of fog each night and into the morning hours. High temperatures will peak around 70° today and on Monday with overnight lows in the mid-40s.

FEW CLOUDS ON TUESDAY… There could be a few clouds in the sky late Monday night into Tuesday as a weak frontal boundary approaches our area from the west. This front will usher in slightly cooler temperatures for Tuesday when high temperatures will scale back into the mid-60s. For now, it seems prudent to keep rain chances at near 0% as the odds of any locale having a shower are very, very low. If a shower happens late Monday into Tuesday, it would likely be over west Alabama.

RAIN SHOWERS ON THANKSGIVING DAY… We’ll be monitoring a developing area of low pressure over Texas on Thanksgiving Day. The southerly flow out ahead of the low pressure may cause a few rain showers to happen on Thursday into Friday. The bigger rain chance will happen Saturday into Sunday, however. Temperatures on Thanksgiving Day into Black Friday are expected to be quite seasonal with highs in the mid-60s and lows around 43°.

IRON BOWL PREVIEW… The annual meeting of Auburn and Alabama in football will be held in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, November 24. Early model indications point to a significant chance of rain with temperatures in the 50s. We’ll be able to refine that more in the days ahead. Forecast changes could occur between now and then.
