RAIN LIKELY THIS EVENING; FEW STRONG STORMS NEAR COAST… The Storm Prediction Center continues to includes parts of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida in their Level 1 (out of 5) low-end, marginal risk zone to potentially see a few strong thunderstorms this evening into the overnight hours. Vast majority of us across the region will have rain today into tonight with no major severe weather issues expected.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE NEAR THE COAST… The Level 1 severe weather risk is in place for parts of Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia (FL), and Santa Rosa counties. The greatest risk of experiencing a strong to severe thunderstorm will happen along and south of Interstate 10, mainly near the immediate coastline where atmospheric instability values will likely be greatest. Even in these zones, however, the overall severe weather risk is LOW but not zero. Mobile, Pensacola, Daphne, Fairhope, Spanish Fort, Foley, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Perdido Key, Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre, Coden, Alabama Port, Magnolia Springs, Point Clear, Warrington, and Gulf Breeze are the areas included in the low-end severe weather risk today.

RAIN & GENERAL STORMS EXPECTED INLAND… There basically will be no instability in place across inland areas of southwest Alabama later this evening as showers and storms pass through. This will serve as one of the limiting factors as to why severe weather likely will not happen across the inland. Yes, there may be a rumble of thunder and some lightning involved, but the overall severe weather risk is very, very low for areas north of I-10.

APP ALERTS… We’ll have updates as needed later this evening in the RedZone Weather app (redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download). Once you have the app downloaded, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow “Alert Settings” button to customize the alerts you’d like to receive straight from me.

SHOWERS ON FRIDAY… The upper-level low pressure area responsible for all the rain today into tonight will pass near or just to the northwest of our local area on Friday. This will set off a few rain showers on Friday. Overall, precipitation chances will fall throughout the day. Clearing skies are expected on Saturday.

NICE, SUNNY DAYS START SUNDAY… A slew of nice, seasonal, sunny days will commence on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-60s with morning lows in the low-40s for the early part of next week. Those temperature values are very close to our climatological norms for this time of year!

See all the details in your Thursday #rzw forecast video… Have a good day!
