WARM THURSDAY & FRIDAY; MORE SCATTERED SHOWERS TODAY… Clouds will hang tough again on this Thursday with scattered showers and thunderstorms around throughout the day. High temperatures will soar into the upper-70s and potentially hit 80-81° this afternoon. The good news is that the severe weather risk is over, for now. We get two drier days ahead before another round of showers and storms on Saturday. The severe weather risk coming together to our northwest on Saturday could be particularly intense for parts of northwest Mississippi and Arkansas where strong tornadoes will be possible. We’re also looking ahead to early next week when we could have another round of strong storms. Our active weather pattern continues! Let’s talk details…

WARM, SLIGHTLY DRIER FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Rain chances will decrease somewhat on Friday and on Saturday before rain becomes increasingly likely Saturday night. High temperatures on Friday and Saturday will be in the low-80s. Some spots may hit 82-83° on Saturday under mostly cloudy skies.

SIGNIFICANT ROUND OF SEVERE WEATHER TO OUR NORTHWEST SATURDAY… The Storm Prediction Center continues to suggest that a potent storm system may produce severe thunderstorms across parts of Arkansas, western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and north Alabama on Saturday into Saturday night. SPC notes that a few strong tornadoes will be possible across north Mississippi and western Tennessee. If you’re traveling northward from our local area on Saturday, please be aware of this potential for hazardous weather.

RAIN CHANCES INCREASE SATURDAY NIGHT LOCALLY… The severe weather that happens to our north on Saturday is associated with a cold front that will move by our area late Saturday into early Sunday. This system will likely “lose some its punch” late in the day on Saturday and there is a high chance that our local area won’t have any severe weather issues. There will be some thunderstorms and rain involved, however. This will happen late Saturday into the very early morning hours of Sunday. We’ll keep you posted about the very latest in the RedZone Weather app.

MORE RAIN NEXT WEEK… Another weathermaker will move through our area early next week. Rain will again become likely late Monday into Tuesday. There is a chance that a few thunderstorms may be involved. It’s too early to speculate whether severe weather will be an issue.
