STRONG TO SEVERE HAIL STORMS TRACKING SOUTHEAST… While we only have ONE severe thunderstorm moving southeast across south Alabama, the other storms on radar this evening are quite strong. Even if a storm doesn’t feature a warning, it probably is producing at least small hail. The strongest storm as of 8:50PM is clearly the one right over Excel and Halls Crossroads. This storm is about to cross into southeast Conecuh County near Repton. We encourage NO driving on US84 west of Belleville all the way to Monroeville right now as the core of this storm moves by. Same thing on Alabama Highway 41 between Repton and Range. NO driving on that stretch of Highway for the next 30-45 minutes.
STRONG STORMS… We’re also monitoring a strong storm in southern Washington County pushing into areas near McIntosh and Calvert along US43. Smaller, newer storms are developing near Barlow Bend, Chrysler, Evergreen, Brooklyn, Owassa, and Damascus. Another particularly strong storm is happening near Oaky Streak in southern Butler County.
Storms will continue to produce hail over the next hour or so. A gradual weakening trend is expected to commence within the next 1-2 hours as storms move southeast. We’ll have further updates as needed here in the RZW app.
INTENSE STORM MOVING INTO MEXIA… The thunderstorm that is currently over Perdue Hill in western Monroe County “means business!” There is likely nickel or quarter size hail falling near Perdue Hill along the US84 corridor. This severe storm is moving into Mexia and into areas near the AL47 & US84 interchange west of Monroeville. It looks like the core of this hail storm will pass JUST south of downtown Monroeville. This means areas near Frisco City, Excel, Ollie, and the Monroe County Airport are under threat of large hail shortly. Be inside and do NOT be driving in this severe storm! Damaging wind gusts also possible.
New severe thunderstorm warning for Monroe & Conecuh counties includes Monroeville, Mexia, Frisco City, Claiborne, Excel, Perdue Hill, Megargal, Repton, Range, Lenox. NO driving on US84 east of Belleville and west of Grove Hill! pic.twitter.com/G5cgqrBFGz

LARGE HAIL JUST NORTH OF FLORALA… We encourage no driving on US331 in southern Covington County south of Onycha and north of Florala as there is a storm that is likely producing up to quarter size hail moving through. The storm is very near the Florala airport just north of town. Communities right under the hail core as of 8PM include Stedman, McRae, and Howells. This storm will quickly move into Geneva County near Hacoda in 5-10 minutes.
This storm will NOT affect Andalusia, Opp, Red Level, Carolina, Pleasant Home, River Falls, Gantt, Heath, Horn Hill, or Rose Hill. We are watching storms to the northwest of Covington County that will move through over the next few hours. We’ll keep you posted.
The core of the large hail will pass right over or just south of Grove Hill in Clarke County… Be inside and NO driving right now on US43 or US84 near Grove Hill! pic.twitter.com/Gk58MkzR3l

718p- we have zero severe thunderstorm warnings in effect at this time, and storms have become a lot more disorganized/weaker. Hopefully this will be the case as the activity continues toward the southeast. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and small hail remain on the table though. pic.twitter.com/vFd3azNP1a

DOWNPOURS NEAR BREWTON & BAY MINETTE… Two small rain showers have developed over the last 10 minutes in Escambia (AL) and Baldwin counties. Rain is happening along the US31 corridor near Bay Minette & Dyas and near Brewton. These small showers are drifting southeast. Nothing severe about these showers, but they could strengthen into thunderstorms as they move southeast. Rain likely shortly in East Brewton, Riverview, and Rock Hill.
