ISOLATED STORMS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING… A few showers and thunderstorms will dot the landscape across south Alabama and northwest Florida later today. It’s a 20-30% chance of showers and storms between Noon and 9PM. The greatest coverage of rain and storms will happen from 3PM to 6PM. The severe weather risk remains at basically zero today. Don’t be surprised if your location does NOT have rain today. Most won’t. That begins to change on Sunday, however, as I expect more showers and storms to be around. High temperatures will be around 91° at 3PM. Let’s look at a few forecast details…

SUNDAY POP-UP STORMS… Rain chances will increase to the 40-50% range on Father’s Day Sunday. Keep the rain gear close by. If you’re headed out for a round of golf Sunday afternoon/evening or headed to the beach, certainly have a way to check the radar as storms will pop up quickly. The storms on Sunday will be below severe limits, most likely, but they will produce localized heavy downpours of rain and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning.

MORE P.M. STORMS EACH DAY NEXT WEEK… Consistently, we will have pop-up scattered showers and thunderstorms in each of the next 7 days. These will be the “splash and dash” variety of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds, but are generally well under severe limits. This means the tornado risk remains at or very near zero. High temperatures will be in the low-90s with morning lows around 71°. Welcome to summer!

Have a wonderful Saturday!
