CHANCE OF STORMS THIS AFTERNOON & EVENING… Another summer day, another chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. Our typical summertime weather pattern has taken hold with no end in sight. High temperatures will peak in the low- to mid-90s this afternoon. The clouds bubbling up this morning will become larger and produce scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Yesterday, we had a deck of low clouds in place for much of the day keeping temperatures and storm coverage in check. Today, most spots across the region won’t have that luxury. Storms will begin to fire around Noon. The severe weather risk today remains very low. (Basically no tornado risk). The main concerns with the storms today will be localized heavy downpours of rain, lightning, and gusty winds.

MORE OF THE SAME – SCATTERED P.M. STORMS AHEAD… Pop-up thunderstorms will again reign supreme over the next 5-7 days. Storm coverage will likely increase somewhat as we go into the upcoming weekend. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s over the next few days with morning lows in the 70s.

TROPICS ARE QUIET… No tropical storm formation is expected over the next 5-7 days per the latest guidance from the National Hurricane Center.
