COOLER TEMPERATURES COMING NEXT WEEK… There is good evidence that we will have a brief respite from the extreme heat of summer by the end of the upcoming week. A rare July cold front will approach our area from the north on Wednesday into Thursday. Unlike most cold fronts that stall or fizzle out before they move across our area, this one is set to plow through the region on Thursday. This won’t be COLD air moving in, but it will be ever so slightly cooler and much drier than the air mass currently in place. The image attached is the 6-10 Day Outlook issued by the Climate Prediction Center (NOAA). This shows the high (60%+) chance of cooler temperatures compared to our climatological average for this time of year.

HIGHS IN THE 80s, LOWS NEAR 68… High temperatures Thursday into Friday of the upcoming week will drop back into the mid- to upper-80s. Morning lows by Friday morning will likely be in the upper-60s. Agian, not cold by any stretch of the imagination, but not 95-98° like we’ve had over the last few weeks.

INCREASED RAIN CHANCES NEXT WEEK… Rain chances are slated to be a bit higher as we go into Saturday and Sunday followed by an extended streak of 50-60% rain chances in the afternoon and evening hours of the upcoming week. This rain will be because of pop-up thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Severe weather is not expected in any of the next 7 days at this time.

My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM on Friday. See you then!
