HURRICANE SEASON ENDS; SUNNY, COOL WEATHER THIS WEEK… The 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season has officially come to an end. Overall, it was a quiet season for south Alabama and northwest Florida other than the “near miss” events from Hurricane Barry and Tropical Storm Nestor. This was the 4th consecutive hurricane season that featured an above average amount of named storms. 18 named storms formed, 6 hurricanes, 3 major hurricanes, and 2 category 5 hurricanes (Dorian & Lorenzo). Hurricane Dorian was the strongest storm of the year, causing unbelievable devastation across The Bahamas. Skies are quickly becoming sunny on this Sunday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be near 70° today but MUCH colder air moves in tonight. We’re also looking ahead to the forecast for the rest of the week. Let’s talk details.

MUCH COLDER ON MONDAY… Temperatures on Monday will feel MUCH colder as the thermometer struggles to hit 55° in the afternoon hours across our region. Sunny skies are expected all day on Monday.

MONDAY NIGHT & TUESDAY MORNING TO BE COLDEST… Model guidance has been consistent in suggesting that Tuesday morning will be the coldest out of the next 7-10 days. Overnight lows on Tuesday morning will likely be in the upper-20s across inland stretches of south Alabama with areas closer to Interstate 10 being near the freezing mark (31-33°).

SUNNY TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY… Tuesday into Wednesday will be cool, sunny, and dry. No significant weather issues are expected across south Alabama or northwest Florida. High temperatures will rise into the mid-60s on Wednesday afternoon.

MORE CLOUDS THURSDAY AHEAD OF RAIN ON FRIDAY… Clouds will start to stream in from the southwest on Thursday ahead of our next rain event slated for Friday. Due to the wind flow from the south, temperatures will edge up to near 70° by the end of the week. The event Friday looks to be rain with maybe a few embedded general thunderstorms with no signs of severe weather for now.
