COOL & DRY TODAY; HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Clouds will be on the increase on this Friday ahead of a significant rain event upcoming for the Alabama & NW Florida weekend. While we are not expecting rain issues today or for the evening hours, we could have showers as early as late tonight. Rain chances will drastically increase for Saturday. This will be a good, soaking rain with grand totals across the region in the 2 to 4 inch range for most spots. Temperatures will be quite chilly, meaning the air will remain stable and thunderstorms will remain unlikely. There is basically no risk of severe weather this weekend despite all of the rain that is expected.

2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN TOTAL ACROSS THE AREA EXPECTED… Rain totals this weekend will almost certainly be greatest across the eastern half of our local area in parts of Covington, Butler, Okaloosa, and Santa Rosa counties. 2 to 3 inches of rain is likely in these counties with rain totals of around 1 inch expected across the western side of our region closer to Mississippi. The area of low pressure developing to our south in the Gulf is responsible for flinging ample moisture into our region. We will remain on the north and west side of the low, thus mitigating any potential for widespread severe weather. Good news!

TEMPS STUCK IN THE 40s and 50s THIS WEEKEND… Temperatures will remain remarkably consistent this weekend. From about 5PM today to 10AM Sunday, there is a very high chance temperatures will consistently be within a 5-7 degrees (both higher and lower) of the 50 degree mark. If you’re headed out and about this weekend, have the rain coats and something to keep warm!

SLIGHTLY WARMER ON MONDAY… Rain will move out Sunday night into early Monday and I expect cloud coverage to lessen on Monday afternoon. High temps on Monday will edge slightly higher into the low-60s.

AFTERNOON HIGHS IN THE 70s FOR CHRISTMAS… Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day look to feature quiet weather with mild temperatures. High temperatures on both Tuesday and Christmas Day Wednesday will be in the 70-73° range. Mostly sunny skies are expected each day. Our quiet weather pattern looks to extend into Thursday and Friday of next week as well with partly cloudy skies each day with afternoon temps near 70°. Nice!
