SHOWERS STREAMING INLAND… Small showers are streaming northward across parts of Monroe, Conecuh, Escambia (AL), and Escambia (FL) counties early this evening. These areas of rain are pretty docile and not remotely close to being severe.

Showers are also happening near Destin, Miramar Beach, and Santa Rosa Beach in the southern parts of Okaloosa and Walton counties in northwest Florida.

TORNADO WATCH TO THE NORTH… Much of northwest Alabama and northern Mississippi remains involved in a tornado watch until 9PM. Storms are causing severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings to be issued across parts of north-central Mississippi northeast of Jackson (MS) as of 3:43PM. If you’re traveling to those areas, please be aware of the slightly higher tornado risk this evening.

WHAT TO EXPECT LOCALLY… Rain and occasional thunderstorms will increase in coverage over the next few hours across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The line of potentially stronger storms will move through late tonight. The overall severe weather risk locally remains very low.

I’ll keep watching radar trends and bring you updates here in the RZW app as needed.
