NARROW BAND OF STORMS TO MOVE THROUGH OVERNIGHT… Showers and storms have been plentiful today to our north across the northern halves of Alabama and Mississippi. Much of our local area remains quiet this evening. The narrow band of thunderstorms currently near the I-59 corridor, Hattiesburg, and Meridian will cross our area from west to east over the next 6 hours. Showers and thunderstorms will exit the area to the east by 3AM Monday. The overall severe weather risk locally across south Alabama and northwest Florida is VERY low at this point. Storms across the Deep South will continue to slowly weaken over the next few hours as the better dynamics of this weather system lift away to the north.

WHAT TO EXPECT OVERNIGHT… Short version: Maybe some rain and probably not much else. Could there be some thunder involved? Yes, however strong storms at this point seem like a stretch. The risk is not entirely zero across inland counties, but it is quite low. If we had a tornado warning tonight, I would be surprised. I always get a little concerned mentioning that, however, as I always tell everyone to have a way to receive urgent weather warnings JUST IN CASE we happen to have a rogue warning or two. Again, that’s not really expected at this point, but it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. I’ll have updates as needed in the RedZone Weather app.

MUCH COOLER TOMORROW… Temperatures will be in the upper-40s by 6AM on Monday as a cold front moves though. High temperatures on Monday will struggle to get to 60 degrees!

My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM on Monday. Have a nice evening!

APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download.
