COLD AIR COMING NEXT WEEK; NO SNOW IN FORECAST DESPITE FAKE NEWS RUMORS… While it is absolutely true we will have much colder temperatures next week across south Alabama and northwest Florida, there is zero chance of snow or mixed precipitation in the forecast despite viral fake news posts circulating on social media. High temperatures will drop back into the upper-40s and 50s next week with morning lows at or below freezing on multiple mornings. Snow and mixed precipitation is NOT currently in the forecast for our area, however. Beware of “weather pages” that are run by teenagers spewing fake information. Weather pages named “Mobile Weather Center” and “YourTown Weather Authority” are fake and should not be shared. Please do not engage or share this fake content. It is a massive problem. A few evening updates are below.

WHAT TO EXPECT OVERNIGHT… Isolated showers are happening across Okaloosa, southern Santa Rosa, southern Covington, and northern Clarke counties on this Tuesday evening. Overnight, more periods of rain and occasional storms will be possible. Severe weather is not expected and the overall tornado risk remains at or near zero. A few showers will be possible into Wednesday as well. Keep the rain gear handy! Warm temperatures are expected on Wednesday with highs in the upper-70s.

CREEK & RIVER WATER LEVEL UPDATES… I have been inundated with questions today regarding potential road closures due to river and creek flooding. The water levels of most rivers and creeks are now falling. Let’s be clear in saying NO significant flooding is expected for Murder Creek at Evergreen, Castleberry, and Brewton. No significant flooding is expected for Burnt Corn Creek or Big Escambia Creek. Only minor flooding with no significant impact is expected for the Conecuh River at Riverview and the Escambia River at Century. No major highway closures are expected at this time.

My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM on Wednesday. We’ll look at the river & creek water levels in detail in the video. Let me know if you have questions. Have a nice Tuesday evening!
