WARM & MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; RAIN RETURNS THIS WEEKEND… Get outside and enjoy the wonderful weather on this Thursday as we have multiple days featuring rain chances starting on Friday. High temperatures will peak in the mid- to upper-80s across areas north of Interstate 10, with communities closer to the coast topping out in the upper-70s. There will be passing clouds at times today. There may be enough moisture to support a few showers today across parts of Monroe, Clarke, Washington, Wilcox, and Choctaw counties in west Alabama, but even in those counties the overall rain chance remains very low (10-20% chance). Rain chances will spike this weekend and temperatures will decline as a cold front passes by. The good news is we are not expecting severe weather issues. Let’s look at all of your forecast details.

NICE EVENING AHEAD… Any showers that happen today will be brief and should be long gone by 7PM. Temperatures will be in the upper-70s this evening under mostly cloudy skies. Rain chances will drop this evening ahead of more rain becoming possible at times on Friday. Overnight lows tonight into Friday morning at 6AM will be in the mid-60s.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE AT TIMES FRIDAY… Rain and perhaps a few thunderstorms will be possible on Friday. We’ll call it a 30-40% chance of rain for any given spot. Highs on Friday will be in the mid-80s one last time ahead of cooler temperatures on Saturday when a cold front will move by.

RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY… Rain and storms will continue to be possible on Saturday as a cold front dives south of our local area. This will cause our high temperatures on Saturday to drop into the mid-70s. No severe weather issues are expected.

MORE RAIN SUNDAY INTO MONDAY… Showers will continue to be possible Sunday into Monday. Highs on Sunday will only be near 70°, making for the coolest day out of the next 7 days. Showers may linger into Monday, but we quickly dry out as we get into Tuesday. Keep in mind that any rain we pick up now through Monday night will be welcome as soil moisture content has quickly dropped over the last week due to lack of rain.

WARMER NEXT WEEK… After cooler temperatures Monday, we quickly rebound into the low-80s for afternoon highs on Tuesday. Temperatures will warm into the mid-80s by Wednesday with upper-80s becoming possible a week from today on Thursday, March 26. Partly cloudy skies are expected Tuesday through Thursday with low (0-20%) rain chances.

STILL NO SEVERE WEATHER IN SIGHT… Rain at times over the next week, yes. Severe weather, apparently NO. Good news! Looking at some of the wider model views, I am not seeing any setups suggestive of a widespread severe weather episode locally across Alabama or northwest Florida. The overall pattern seems similar to what we would expect in May typically as opposed to March, with multiple chances of active weather to our north and west. Good news for our local area!
